If we fast-forward 30 years hence, one of the greatest tales of friendships unravelled in the history of Indian cricket would be that of former Indian captain MS Dhoni and his successor Virat Kohli. As a matter of fact, in his latest interview, Kohli claimed that in spite of people incessantly trying to create rifts between him and MSD, there’s nothing which can come in between them.

The image of them captaining the side whenever India takes on the field has had mixed reception off-late. While some remain befuddled trying to figure who exactly is the commander of the Indian troops, the others have lauded the chemistry they share. India is blessed to have two effective captains at the moment as there is no scope for egos when it comes to captaining the side and taking India to victory.

“A lot of people try to plug in stories of rifts between us. The best part is neither he reads those articles nor do I. And when the people see us together, they wonder ‘wasn’t there rift between the two’. We laugh amongst ourselves and say we didn’t know there was one guess Hayden is not off the mark. A lot of people don’t know but he has childlike enthusiasm. He gets intrigued by things easily and is always looking for something new that will interest him,” claimed Virat Kohli when asked about his dynamics with MSD.

“I don’t think I have ever come across a better cricketing brain just in terms of planning, knowing what’s happening in the game and what can be done. Obviously, I go by my instincts but whenever I ask him anything 8 or 9 out of 10 times what he says, works. Our friendship has only grown over the years,” concluded Kohli while talking to Gaurav Kapur on his chat show ‘Breakfast With Champions‘.
