PSL 2020: PCB finalises tentative dates for the opening ceremony and final

PSL is one of the high profile T20 tournament being played in Pakistan and now it will be heading towards its fifth successive season in the upcoming year. The tournament consists of six teams with many high-profile players like Shane Watson and Darren Sammy playing in it.

Meanwhile, the tentative dates for the opening ceremony as well as for the finals have been made confirmed by the sources. Pakistan Cricket Board has already cleared the fact that the upcoming season of PSL will take place in Pakistan. But, the schedule for the same is still to be finalised. In this year, Pakistan successfully hosted Sri Lanka for T20I, ODI and Test series and PCB looks quite stern on their decision to organize the league in their own nation instead of playing in UAE.

Moreover, it will be an interesting thing to watch whether the overseas players will come and play in the subcontinent nation or not. In the previous season, Quetta Gladiators had lifted the trophy as they defeated Peshawar Zalmi by a margin of eight wickets.

PSL 2020 opening ceremony to be held in Karachi

The sources told the Daily Mail that the opening ceremony will be going to held in Karachi on the 20th of February whereas the final of PSL-5 is scheduled to be played on March 22 in Lahore. So far, the responsibility to organize inauguration of the league was assigned to TransMedia Group & ITW.

But, for the upcoming season, Jalal and Satti will be going to organize the opening ceremony. The source said that the contract has been given to the new company on the merit and it is expected that they will successfully organize the event while maintaining the high standards.

“Jalal and Satti will take care of this year’s opening ceremony of PSL. We followed the due process before giving them the contract and are hopeful that the company will maintain the high standards with regards to coverage of the event,” a source said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
