Rajasthan Royals (RR) have not been able to stage a fairytale comeback like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL). While the horrible opening encounter was not enough for them, their overseas recruits Dushmantha Chameera and Jofra Archer have got injured. The former is almost ruled out of the tournament and Archer is still recovering from an injury. However, there is a possibility that the Royals team management might replace Chameera with South African bowler Junior Dala.
The injury list of the foreign players this year has been increasing forever and mostly the fast bowlers have been on the receiving end. Also, there is uncertainty over Jofra Archer’s availability as Royals are awaiting his arrival in India. He sustained an injury while featuring in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Though Junior Dala seems like an able replacement for Chameera as the youngster had impressed one and all during his debut T20 International series against India.
Dala follows RR on Instagram
The news of Dushmantha Chameera likely to be replaced by Junior Dala started doing the rounds when the fast bowler followed the official Instagram page of Rajasthan Royals. The same had happened with Tom Curran and he eventually made his debut for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against CSK on Tuesday. Though nothing is official yet as far as Dala’s case is concerned but as of now, it seems most likely.
The 28-year-old has played 52 matches in the shortest format of the game so far and has picked 49 wickets while conceding the runs at an economy of 8.21. He strikes after 18.5 deliveries which is more important in T20s and any captain would love to have him in the side. He had troubled the Indian players famously in his debut and went on pick 7 wickets in three matches. If he gets the chance to play in the IPL, he would be eager to make his mark right away.
