In what can be called a major blow for Karachi Kings, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Ilyas have been ruled out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 due to injuries. Notably, Amir had missed the first three games of the competition due to a hamstring injury. The left-arm speedster was learnt to have regained fitness and was even expected to feature in the team’s upcoming assignments.
However, the Kings won’t be able to avail his services throughout this season. As far as Ilyas is concerned, the 22-year-old fast bowler played the first three games of the season but couldn’t do much. The right-arm pacer returned with just one wicket and his economy rate was also on the higher side.
Meanwhile, veteran Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq confirmed the developments. “Bad news for Karachi Kings – Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Ilyas have been ruled out of the PSL due to injuries #PSL7,” he tweeted on Thursday (February 3). It has also been learnt that the team is looking for replacements for the duo.

Karachi Kings suffered defeats in their first three games
Meanwhile, the unavailability of these two speed merchants is like salt to injury for Karachi Kings. The Babar Azam-led side suffered a hat-trick of losses in their first three assignments. As a result, Karachi find themselves languishing at the bottom of the team standings with a negative net run rate of -0.998. They would be looking to end their losing streak when they face Peshawar Zalmi on Friday.
However, they now face an even sterner task with Amir and Ilyas getting ruled out for entire season. Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that Amir was spotted bowling with a lot of energy and enthusiasm during the practice session at the High-Performance Center in Karachi. On the other hand, a clear information on Ilyas’ injury is yet to come.
Speaking of Karachi Kings’ campaign so far, the 2020-edition champions had suffered a seven-wicket loss against the defending champions Multan Sultans in the season opener. They subsequently went down to Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets before suffering a six-wicket defeat against Lahore Qalandars.
