Australia captain Steve Smith has come under heavy criticism after his accepted in front of media that altering the condition of the ball was part of the plan. There are already calls from the Government of Australia and Australian Sports Commission to sack him as the leader of the pack with an immediate effect. Smith was appointed as captain of Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) only last month by the franchise. But now even they have decided to sack him as the captain of the team following the ball tampering incident.

The incident sent shockwaves in the cricketing world when Cameron Bancroft was caught scruffing the ball with a yellow coloured tape which was in his pocket. However, when he caught on the camera, their coach Darren Lehmann was seen instructing the reserve player Peter Handscomb via a walkie-talkie who was sitting in the dugout. Soon, Handscomb was seen beside Bancroft even as the alleged cricketer was once again caught on the cameras while putti ng that tape in his pants.

The news of Steve Smith being sacked by Rajasthan Royals franchise has been confirmed by Republic on their official Twitter handle.

Who will lead Royals now?

If indeed Steve Smith has been sacked by Royals, who will be their next skipper as the eleventh edition of the IPL is approaching fast. They have a lot of star players in their ranks for this season and they might announce their new skipper soon. There is a possibility that Ajinkya Rahane might be tipped for the job as he is the cool and calm cricketer and is known to handle things in a proper way. They also have the option of Ben Stokes but it seems unlikely as of now given his history off the field.

These actions from the Australian cricket team are surely not doing wonders to their reputation as something worse might be waiting for them in the near future.
