The excitement and anticipation for the World Cup 2019 is increasing with every passing day. The tournament is just within touching distance. While the teams are busy finalising their squads for the event, analysts are engaged in predicting them. There have also been several prophecies about the semi-finalists and finalists. Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting also picked his predicted four semi-finalists.

The Delhi Capitals’ coach picked hosts England along with favourites India amongst his semi-finalists. Furthermore, Ponting also chose Australia amongst the top-four. The Aussies have played a great brand of cricket against India in their own den raising several expectations. Moreover, David Warner and Steve Smith are also expected to join the side soon which will strengthen it. Ponting’s final pick was New Zealand which is an exceptionally talented team.

Ricky Ponting doesn’t think the Kangaroos have been un-Australian

England, India, Australia and maybe New Zealand. Of course, you never know what Pakistan and West Indies are gonna do!” Ponting told Cricbuzz.

He was also questioned if Australia lost a bit of their aggressiveness in recent times. The former cricketer didn’t agree with this. He mentioned that it happens when the team is not playing well. The right-hander was clear that the team wasn’t un-Australian in recent times.

“I don’t think they’ve been un-Australian. It’s quite hard to be aggressive when you’re not playing well, and I think the Australian team hasn’t played well for a while, until the last week or so,” said Ponting.

The Australian team will face Pakistan next in a five-match ODI series. After this, the players will join their respective IPL teams before they head to the World Cup. Ricky Ponting will join the Australian team as the assistant coach during the quadrennial event.
