England clinched their second T20 World Cup title after beating Pakistan in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Ben Stokes proved to be the saviour and he yet again stepped up when the team needed him the most.

Earlier in the game, England opted to bowl first after winning the toss and Pakistan lost an early wicket in the form of Mohammad Rizwan for just 15. Mohammad Haris did not have the best of outings with the bat while Babar Azam and Shan Masood got back Pakistan on board with a small partnership. The skipper however, was undone by a beauty of a delivery from Adil Rashid while Iftikhar Ahmed bagged a duck in his six-ball stay.  

Masood and Shadab Khan brought Pakistan back into the game after two quick wickets and the duo put the Men in Green in a dominating position. However, a flurry of wickets towards the back end of the innings meant that Pakistan could get to only 137 for 8 in their 20 overs. Sam Curran was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 12 while Jordan and Rashid picked up two wickets each.

In reply, England faced an early setback as in-form batter Alex Hales was dismissed in the very first over. Phil Salt was dismissed trying to pull a delivery that got big on his bat while Jos Buttler was removed with a peach from Haris Rauf. Ben Stokes and Harry Brook got a little partnership going despite the runs coming slowly as Shadab Khan went through an amazing spell of bowling.  

He finally got the reward by dismissing Brook and Stokes joined hands with Moeen Ali to get closer to the target. Ali hit three boundaries in his 12-ball 19 which changed the game in Englandโ€™s favour completely while Stokesโ€™ unbeaten knock of 52 helped England chase down the total by five wickets and one over to spare.
