South Africa registered a big 104-run win against Bangladesh in their second T20 World Cup 2022 match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday (October 27). South Africa managed to score a big total of 205/5 while batting first after a brilliant century from Rilee Rossouw and then star pacer Anrich Nortje took four wickets while conceding only 10 runs to bowl out Bangladesh on 101 runs in 16.3 overs.

South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first with spinner Tabraiz Shamsi replacing pacer Lungi Ngidi. Bavuma's decision to bat first proved costly for himself as he was bowled out in the first over by Taskin Ahmed on just two runs. But wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw dominated the innings with a big 163-run partnership for the second wicket.

Rossouw, who smashed a century in his last T20I innings against India earlier this month, started with an attacking approach. Both the players kept smashing the big shots from the start and didn't give any room for the Bangladeshi bowlers. De Kock scored 63 runs off just 38 balls before getting out on Afif Hossain's delivery in the 15th over.

But Rossouw kept the scoreboard moving and smashed the first century of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. He scored 109 runs off just 56 balls with the help of seven fours and eight sixes before getting caught out in the 19th over. Bangladeshi bowlers made a great comeback in the death overs and managed to restrict the Proteas to 205/5 in 20 overs. Captain Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets while conceding 33 runs from his three-over spell but other bowlers struggled for wickets throughout the innings.

Anrich Nortje shines in South Africa's big win

Bangladeshi openers Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Shanto started well by smashing 17 runs off star South African pacer Kagiso Rabada in the first over with two back-to-back sixes. But the Proteas managed to recover quickly and dominated the rest of the match with excellent bowling spells.

Nortje dismissed both openers in his first over to give South Africa the breakthroughs in the third over. He then took the big wicket of Shakib Al Hasan in his next over and Rabada dismissed Afif Hossain in the sixth over to put South Africa on track to a big victory.

Bangladeshi batters struggled to form decent partnerships and proved too weak against the South African bowling. Tabraiz Shamsi took three wickets on his return to the starting eleven as Bangladesh's innings collapsed on just 101 runs. Nortje proved the best bowler for his team for his four-for-ten spell while Rabada and Keshav Maharaj grabbed one wicket each.
