After another disappointing injury to Quinton de Kock which he suffered in the second ODI match, another exciting talent in Heinrich Klaasen came into the side for the rest of the limited overs side, replacing the former wicket-keeper batsman. He was largely unimpressive in his maiden appearance in which he recorded a single digit score. But the wicket-keeper batsman exhibited his real exploits with the bat in the iconic Pink-ODI match, in which he scored 43 runs off just 27 balls, which proved to be a differential knock to guide his team towards an incredible victory in the rain-curtailed game.

After a great performance with the bat and a decent one with the gloves, Klaasen was also provided an opportunity to depict his talent in the T20 series. He showed his worth with a match-winning explosive knock of 69 runs at a healthy strike rate of 230, which included 7 massive sixes in the second T20I match of the three-match series. Interestingly, the two imperative knocks played by him in the ODIs and T20Is for which he was awarded the Man of the Match on both the occasions, boosted up the depleted confidence of the entire South African dressing room.
