After clinching the ODI series 2-1, Team India would like to continue their sensational run in the T20I leg of the Sri Lanka tour. The first clash of the three-match series takes place at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday (July 25). Needless to mention, Shikhar Dhawan’s men will take the field as favourites with the visiting team studded with Indian Premier League (IPL) stars.

The likes of Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw, Sanju Samson, and Suryakumar Yadav might have played just a handful of international games. However, they have experience of playing some high-quality T20 cricket, and one can expect them to do well. Nevertheless, India can’t afford to take Sri Lanka lightly by any means. After all, the momentum is in the home team’s favour as they won the third ODI by three wickets.

Despite having a depleted squad, the Lankan Lions unexpectedly put up a commendable fight against the Men in Blue. After suffering a humiliating seven-wicket loss in the first ODI, the hosts made a terrific comeback and were on the verge of clinching the second game. However, Deepak Chahar’s batting heroics sealed the encounter for India.

Nevertheless, the third ODI saw Sri Lanka dominating India in all departments, and subsequently Dasun Shanaka’s men with an emphatic victory. Hence, the home team has all the reasons to be confident ahead of the T20I series.

With veterans like Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis, and Niroshan Dickwella not in the mix, Sri Lanka will certainly miss the services of many of their key players. Nevertheless, the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne have been in good form lately, and expectations are high from them.

It has to be noted that the ICC T20 World Cup is just months away, which makes this series even more significant. Players of both sides would be raring to put up an emphatic show in order to stake their claim in the World Cup squad.

Here’s a look at how the weather will behave during India vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I

While the first two ODIs were completed without any hassle, rain played a part in the third game, reducing the encounter to a 47-over per-side affair. However, conditions can be worse for the first T20I. As per accuweather.com, dark clouds will be dominating the sky with the humidity level being on the higher side.

Rain is all but certain to play a part in the initial half of the game with showers coming in the picture. The match is also under the threat of getting washed out entirely. Hence, fans must keep their fingers crossed to witness a full-fledged game.
