Any player would love to make their milestone game a memorable one but Marlon Samuels wasn’t among those lucky ones. Instead, the Windies all-rounder ended up bagging a duck in his 200th ODI match. Samuels batted at No.4 in the first game of the five-match ODI series against India in Guwahati. His stay at the crease was cut short to two deliveries as leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal trapped him in front. Thus, Samuels became only the 8th player to bag a duck in career’s 200th ODI game.

A total of 78 players till date have featured in 200 ODI matches including eight from the Windies. Samuels made his ODI debut back in 2000 at the age of 19 but took about 18 years to complete 200 appearances in this format. Thus far, Samuels has scored 5472 runs with ten centuries in ODI format and also bagged 85 wickets. Samuels’ off-spin action has always been under the scanner of ICC which has excluded him from bowling for a certain period on quite a few occasions.

First of those eight players to bag a duck in 200th ODI game was Roshan Mahanama of Sri Lanka who also recorded it in an ODI against India in 1998. Brian Lara was the other Windies player to bag a duck in the milestone ODI. The legendary batsman got out in the game against the Kiwis in 2002 that too at his home ground Port of Spain. Adam Gilchrist is another player in this list among top batsmen in the 50-overs format.

Harbhajan Singh has the lowest batting credentials among the eight players in this list. Only two players in ODI cricket have made it big in their 200th match. AB de Villiers became the first to score a century in 200th ODI game while Virat Kohli became the second when he took on New Zealand at the Wankhede last year. In the last one year, David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan scored centuries in their 100th ODI game.
