Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Domestic players have a chance to be noticed by IPL scouts

The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to be a galvanizing and exciting experience for both the seasoned campaigners as well as the new faces, who would be taking part in the event for the first time. After the initial retention process on January 4 in which all the eight teams submitted the entire details of their retentions for IPL 2018.
The next event is the big auctions organised on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, all the franchises already have their respective IPL scouts to hunt and recognize out the new as well as experienced talents to settle out the best possible combination for the approaching season.
The IPL scouts will refer to the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament which has reached the knockout stages, during their search. The eight teams that are through to the quarter-finals of the tournament are Punjab, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Mumbai and Rajasthan are placed in Group A.
While the Group B comprises of Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Baroda and Uttar Pradesh. As per the special request received from the IPL franchises, all India’s domestic Twenty20 tournaments, the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and the T20 Zonal league were preponed by a fortnight, as they wanted to have a considerable look at the top performers in the various tournaments.

Some of the specialist players including the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina (who has already been retained by the Chennai Super Kings) and young guns like Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant and many others will be in action during the Super League stages of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The experienced core would be looking to prove their worth once again in order to attract strong bids in the auctions. While the younger talents would be eyeing to contribute match-winning performances in the upcoming games to impress the scouts who have been keenly following the matches.
All the matches of the quarter-final stages would be played at the Eden Gardens and Jadavpur University Campus ground. The final game of the tournament is scheduled to take place on January 27.
