T20 World Cup 2021: Team wise salary of head coaches

A coach plays a significant role in the success of a team. His vision and mission act as a driving force for his players. Thus, a coach is often credited with his team’s victory. This leads to more accountability as it’s the duty of the coach to ensure his players are at their best during an ICC tournament for instance.

Several attributes and traits of a coach come in handy for his players and help them to unlock their full potential. As a matter of fact, it is their influence that helps their team win a trophy. Thus, coaches have a really high salary. Going into the T20 World Cup next month, all the coaches are getting a high paycheck. Let’s take a look at-

Team-wise salary of all head coaches in T20 World Cup

1) India: Ravi Shastri- INR 10 Crore

Ravi Shastri is currently one of the most popular coaches in the world. He has apparently gelled really well with his players and they seem to have liked his way of working. His tactics have been praiseworthy as they have often delivered results more often than not.

Despite being a meme across various social media platforms, the former Indian all-rounder has transformed India to a really terrifying side. Under him, India beat Australia in Australia twice. Beat all the top teams in the shortest format of the game in their own den’s. Thus, his resume is more than just decent.

This is a lead to him having a really high salary. He currently earns a whopping 10 Crore rupees per annum. However, he has already announced that he is going to leave after the upcoming T20 World Cup as his contract ends.

2) Australia: Justin Langer- INR 4.67 Crore

Justin Langer’s style of coaching is very different when compared to others. After becoming the coach in 2018 after the infamous Sandpapergate incident, his tenure has been topsy-turvy, to say the least. The former Aussie opener did a tremendous job in reigniting the lost confidence among his players after the ball-tampering saga.

Under him, Australia won an ODI series against India and Pakistan in India and UAE, respectively. They even reached the WC semis in 2019 as well. However, the highlight of his coaching stint has to be Australia retaining the Ashes in 2019.

However, outside that, JL has seen a few embarrassing defeats as well. Be it against a second-string Indian team at home in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2020/2021 or the recently concluded T20I series against Bangladesh. Nevertheless, his annual salary is 4.67 crore Indian rupees

3) England: Chris Silverwood- INR 4.65 Crore

Chris Silverwood replaced Trevor Bayliss as the English coach after the 2019 Ashes. There were a lot of expectations from him as Bayliss had done a superb job as the English coach. So far he has done a decent job.

Under him, England beat South Africa in South Africa and Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka in the longest version of the game. England’s dominance in the limited-overs prevailed under him too. However, his biggest test as a coach will come in the T20 World Cup as well as the away Ashes which is all set to take place after the T20 WC.

He is currently the third highest-paid coach in the world. He receives a salary of INR 4.65 Crore. Thus, he is highly rated as a coach.

4) Sri Lanka: Mickey Arthur- INR 3.4 Crore

Mickey Arthur has been a coach for various other nations as well. He has had several accomplishments as a coach too. After coaching South Africa, Australia, and Pakistan, he is currently the head coach of Sri Lanka.

As Sri Lanka weren’t as strong as the previous teams he coached, it was never going to be easy. However, under him, the Lankans did manage to win a T20I series against India at home. He is also one of the most animated coaches you’d see and his reactions in the dressing room during a match are often talked about.

Micky is currently the fourth highest-paid coach in the world. He receives a salary of 3.5 crores INR. However, he has an uphill task as Sri Lanka have to first ensure that they qualify for the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup.

5) New Zealand: Gary Stead- INR 1.73 Crore

Gary stead is a former New Zealand batsman and is now their head coach. As a coach, he has been commendable, to say the least. The Kiwis won their first ICC trophy after 2000 under him.

Despite not winning the 2019 ODI WC, they came really close to winning it and lost by the barest of barest margins. New Zealand are currently one of the best teams going around and he deserves a lot of appreciation for that. Stead had himself said that he prefers to work behind the scenes and hates the limelight.

His annual salary is 1.73 Crore Indian rupees. Taking his results as a coach into consideration, it wouldn’t be surprising if he gets a higher paycheck in the near future. Besides, there are a lot of hopes from the Kiwis to come good during the T20 World Cup.

6) Bangladesh: Russell Domingo- INR 1.29Crore

Russell Domingo has had the experience of coaching an international side in the past as well. The former Proteas coach is said to have superb management skills and motivates his players time and again. He took over as the coach of Bangladesh in 2019, replacing Steve Rhodes

His coaching stint with Bangladesh has been decent as of now. Under him, the Bangla tigers won a series against West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand at home. However, they have had several big defeats under him as well.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) pays Domingo 1.29 crore Indian rupees per annum. Bangladesh however an uphill task if they are to do good in the T20 World Cup. They first have to reach the Super 12 stage in order to stand a chance to win the ICC tournament.

7) South Africa: Mark Boucher- INR 1.05 Crore

Mark Boucher is arguably one of the greatest keepers of all time. In late 2019, he returned to the Proteas set up as a coach. However, his coaching stint hasn’t really been the best.

Under him, South Africa had to face a lot of defeats, both home and away. Some of them include the series loss to England and Pakistan. While one can’t really blame him as the Proteas are going through one of their most difficult phases.

Boucher receives a salary of 1.05 crore Indian rupees per annum. It is now the former gloveman’s responsibility to motivate his troops and make them believe that they can win the upcoming T20 World Cup. His side does have the talent to do so as they have several talented blokes in their squad

8) West Indies: Phil Simmons- INR 64.5 Lakhs

Phil Simmons became the coach of the West Indies in 2019 and has done a decent job. The Windies have played a fearless brand of cricket under him. Several youngsters have transformed themselves in a really good fashion too.

Under the Trinidadian, West Indies challenged England in their own den and came close to beating them. They however did manage to beat Bangladesh and Sri Lanka earlier in 2021. They have been superb in the shortest format of the game of late.

The Windies came close to beating the Proteas and even managed to beat the Aussies. Thus, Phil Simmons receives an annual income of 64.5 lakh Indian rupees per annum. There are a lot of expectations from him and his team in the upcoming T20 WC.
