Team UAE tried their level best, but the Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards kept his cool and formed a small but crucial partnership with Tim Pringle to win their first game in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Talking about the game, UAE won the toss and opted to have a bat first. Openers Chirag Suri and Muhammed Waseem gave a steady start to the batting team, but Suri got out in the seventh over. A mini partnership was also established between Waseem and Kashif Daud but the Dutch side broke the stand in the 11th over.

Despite losing only two wickets, UAE batters were not able to play freely as they could only score 59 runs in 10.3 overs. Waseem played well for his 41 but got out at the wrong time. The same case happened with the wicketkeeper-batter Vriitya Aravind who scored 18 off 21 balls.

Apart from the top-four batters, none of the other UAE players managed to cross the double-digit mark as UAE crashed to 111/8 in its allotted 20 overs.

Netherlands openers gave a decent start to the team

Chasing 112 to win, the Dutch openers tried to dominate the proceedings as openers Vikramjit Singh and Max O' Dowd tried to hit boundaries. Singh was looking more dominant but he was cleaned up by Basil Hameed.

O'Dowd then hit three fours and one maximum before he was sent back to the pavilion with the batting side scoring 41/2 in 5.4 overs.

Talented batter Bas de Leede (14 off 18 balls) and Colin Ackermann (17 off 19 balls) failed to capitalize on the starts they got and got out at the wrong time. Tom Cooper and Roelof van der Merwe got out soon as well.

The match got to a situation where either team could have won but the Dutch captain Scott Edwards held his nerves and took his team over the victory line. He remained unbeaten on 16 valuable runs.
