Temba Bavuma’s struggles continued in the T20 format as the South African skipper was yet again dismissed for a low score against Bangladesh in T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 stages. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bavuma could add just two runs to the tally after facing six balls and he was undone by a beauty from Taskin Ahmed. The right-hander edged it to the wicketkeeper to complete a caught-behind dismissal and was sent back to the pavilion early.

In the previous game against Zimbabwe, South Africa batted just three overs in the rain-shortened match and Quinton de Kock’s prolific show with the bat stole the limelight. In a way, it shadowed the struggles of Bavuma and certainly, it is expected to be a talking point among the management. Bavuma looked in complete disarray in the T20Is against India recently and his strike rate has neither helped his cause.

Also, Reeza Hendricks has been in the form of his life with four half-centuries in his last six innings but still he has been sacrificed on the bench on account of Bavuma’s leadership qualities. Hendrick's numbers in the format are way better than Bavuma’s however he still could not find a place in the playing XI.

Ahead of the tournament, the maiden edition of the SA20 auction took place and there weren’t any buyers for the captain of the Proteas side in their nation’s biggest league. The fans on Twitter were disappointed with Bavuma’s another quick dismissal and went hard at the selectors for appointing him as the captain.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Bavuma’s dismissal
