The goodbyes are never easy to digest, and when a popular name decides to call it quits from the game, the cricketing world is always taken aback. Recently, Gautam Gambhir announced his retirement from all forms of the game. Soon after the news broke out, the wishes came in for the veteran southpaw. Among the many who took to social media to comment on the same, were Robin Uthappa and Venky Mysore.

Robin Uthappa shared lovely partnerships with Gautam Gambhir in the Kolkata Knight Riders dugout for a very long time. The two cricketers shared great camaraderie and Robin certainly was full of awe for his skipper. Recently, the two were seen trying studio commentary together during Australia vs India T20I series. Robin, in his farewell tweet for Gambhir, remarked that he will always be grateful for the lovely bond that he shares with Gambhir.

“I gotta say.. I don’t like retirements.. especially of people that I admire deeply. Congratulations @GautamGambhir on an amazing career. I’m grateful for all that we shared on and off the field. It’s been an honour skip. My best wishes on ur second innings,” Robin Uthappa tweeted.

‘Best wishes for the new innings’

The Knight Riders franchise CEO Venky Mysore was not far behind in extending his warm wishes for the former KKR skipper either. Mysore also shared a tweet congratulating Gambhir on a great ‘innings’. He remarked that he is sure that Gambhir will soon start writing the script for his new innings of life. He did not miss out on thanking Gambhir for everything he did for the KKR family.

“Congrats on a Gr8 innings @GautamGambhir. You said the script writer ran out of ink, but I am sure he’s got a new pen to write the script for the next innings! Best wishes & many thanks for everything you did for @KKRiders,” Venky Mysore wrote in his tweet.

Prior to the IPL 2018 auctions, Gambhir had requested the KKR franchise not to retain him and had expressed his desire to play for the Delhi franchise. Under the leadership of Gambhir, the Knight Riders had lifted the IPL trophy twice.
