Pakistani player, Nasir Jamshed had been accused of spot-fixing in the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) along with, fellow batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif. The anti-corruption tribunal of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which had been formed last April to look into the heart of the matter, has reserved its judgement on Jamshed’s alleged involvement in the affair. The decision came in the wake of Jamshed’s failure to appear before the tribunal.

He has been accused of being the mastermind behind the Dubai PSL spot-fixing scandal. Allegedly, the 27-year-old had been in touch with a bookmaker, Yousuf Anwar and facilitated the setting up of meetings between Anwar and the other accused players. Further, UK’s national crime agency is currently investigating Jamshed as he’s a resident of the United Kingdom.

Jamshed is only guilty of non-cooperation with PCB, claims his lawyer

His lawyer, Hasan Waraich has claimed that his client is only guilty of not having co-operated with the PCB, reported The Indian Express. “I have given my final arguments in the case and the fact is that in the PCB documents this person named Yousuf Anwar is not even mentioned as a bookmaker,” said Waraich.

However, PCB’s legal counsel Taffazul Rizvi sang a different tune as he urged that the board had submitted the necessary evidence in the documents to prove Yousuf Anwar was a bookie and had links with Jamshed. Reportedly, the tribunal will announce their verdict within the next 30 days.

The tribunal has already ruled Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif guilty of breaching the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code, banning them for five years and fining Latif one million rupees. Previously, the PCB had suspended Muhammad Irfan, Shahzaib Hasan and Muhammad Nawaz for their alleged failure to report instances of bookies approaching them to the board. Irfan and Nawaz have served the period of ban for their crime, while a sentence is yet to be passed on Shahzaib.
