Pakistan bowling legend and the current coach of the national team Waqar Younis got himself in a sticky soup on the Christmas day after his tweet, a reply to Brian Lara’s Christmas greetings tweet was misunderstood oddly. The comedy of error happened such that Waqar was probably left scratching his head as to what was wrong in that, and how did it draw so much attention.
Merry Christmas to all! Enjoy the festive season but spare a thought and a prayer for all whose Xmas may not be a joyous occasion #weloveyou
— Brian Lara (@BrianLara) December 24, 2015
Waqar Younis posted a reply to Lara and wished him and his family on the eve of Christmas.
@BrianLara hope you and the family are well BC!

The tweet was an ordinary one, but not for the ones in the sub-continent. The last word of the tweet ‘BC’ was taken in a completely different manner.
There was an immediate reaction to it. Some fans mistook him while others made fun out of it. The term ‘BC’ is considered as an abbreviation of a derogatory term in the Asian sub-continent.
@waqyounis99 waqar bhai…gaalian tu mut nikalein Lara ko 🙂 @BrianLara

The fast bowling legend quickly came back to clarify the mess. He explained that he did not mean any offence and that BC was Lara’s nickname. The legendary West Indian’s name is Brian Charles Lara and BC happens to be its abbreviation.
My dear friends, BC is Brian Charles Lara's nickname..#Lara

The clarification cleared the air and doubts of the opportunists, who already were aware that Waqar would never use such language. The Pakistan coach must have never thought that that an ordinary reply would create such a drama on the internet, but in this age of social media, anything is possible.
The 44-year-old is currently the coach of Pakistan team. Lara, who retire in 2007 with 11,953 Test and 10,405 ODI runs still loves to come out of on the field with the bat. Most recently, the flamboyant batting legend played for the Sachin Blasters in the Cricket All Stars and would also feature in the Masters Champions League which will begin next years onwards.
