The Women’s Big Bash League season which is currently on in Australia saw an exciting event during the match between Melbourne Stars Women and Adelaide Strikers Women at Adelaide Oval. Stars ended their season on a thumping note by registering a nine-wicket victory against Strikers on November 21, Sunday.
The high-scoring event had many things to look out for but Strikers’ all-rounder Jemma Barsby unleashing her ambidextrous skills in a single over grabbed a lot of attention. It was during the run chase when Barsby flaunted her skills by switching between right-arm off-spin and left-arm off-spin while delivering to Elyse Villani and Meg Lanning respectively.
While Barsby didn’t clinch any wicket in the game, unfolding her skills at a big platform fetched a lot of attention. Talking about the match, Strikers won the toss and decided to show up with the willows first. Katie Mack and Madeline Penna turned out to be the highest run-scorer from their lot.

While Mack set the tone of the game with her surreal 89 off 67, Penna’s half-century (56 off 34) towards the end pushed the Strikers to post a fine total of 175 runs on the board. Annabel Sutherland picked two wickets for Stars while conceding at 8.25 wherein most of her compatriots went a bit costly in the game.

However, Stars won the game by nine wickets with three balls remaining and the clear credit went to their opener Villani who smashed a brilliant ton (100 of 65) and stood till the end to push her team over the line. She was well supported by skipper Meg Lanning who smashed a half-century (50 off 39) before being knocked by Megan Schutt. Sutherland’s final 27* off 13 let Stars finish off things in style.
Schutt got the only success from Strikers’ end while she conceded at an impressive 5.00. The rest of the bowling lineup from Strikers remained costly on the day.
