The Sunrisers Hyderabad camp suffered a major blow ahead of their tournament kick off in IPL 2016. Star batsman Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of the first two weeks of the IPL following an ankle injury that he sustained during the ICC T20 World Cup.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Coach Tom Moody confirmed the news at the iplt20.com stating the absence of the veteran all-rounder for at least two weeks. Moody also added that the time required by Yuvraj to recover is still unknown.

“Sadly, Yuvraj will be out for a couple of weeks but we don’t know how long that is going to be,” quoted Moody in a media release.

Citing how important the presence of Yuvraj is for the team in the tournament, Moody said that the all-round ability that Yuvi gives to the team is always a plus factor. He notably mentioned how crucial a role Yuvraj Singh can play with the ball in the middle orders. He can be a very effective bowler to bowl in the crucial middle overs.

“A player like Yuvraj Singh is important to any team. He is not only a match winner with the bat, but a very useful bowler in those middle overs. Going into the auction, we were aware that we needed to strengthen our middle order,” he added.

The fans of Yuvraj Singh will have to wait a little longer to see their player in action in different colors. Sunrisers Hyderabad had roped in Yuvraj during the auctions earlier this year in order to strengthen their middle order batting.

“We targeted players like Yuvraj and Deepak Hooda to give us that depth in our middle order and they complement what we already have in our squad,” quoted the coach of Sunrisers franchise.

Tom Moody is confident of a good show in this edition of the IPL and believes that his team will spring up their best result in the competition so far in this year’s IPL.

Yuvraj suffered an ankle injury during India’s match against Australia in World T20. He was seen running in pain and was ruled out of the rest of the tournament after the match following his injury.
