Top 10 oldest batsmen to 9000 Test runs: Players’ longevity in cricket can help them achieve some important milestones. Only 14 batsmen in the history of cricket have thus far been able to score 9000 or more Test runs.

The list of the oldest batsmen to have reached this formidable landmark includes some of the finest ever to have graced the game. These batsmen extraordinaire have stood the test of time and accomplished remarkable things in their respective cricketing careers. Test cricket is the ultimate examination of ability and endurance and these legends have enriched the game with their dedication and unwavering desire to achieve mastery of their craft.

At the top of the list is Pakistan’s highest run scorer in Test cricket, Younis Khan. One of his country’s greatest ever, Younis responds best in adversity and has been his side’s batting mainstay since several years. The legendary Indian Sunil Gavaskar features next in the list. He is widely and justifiably regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in the history of Test cricket. West Indian great Shivnarine Chanderpaul follows them in the list. The Guyanese, well known for his unorthodox batting stance, has been a loyal servant of West Indian cricket.

The Australians Steve Waugh and Allan Border feature at numbers 4 and 5 respectively. Universally hailed as two of the games most iconic captains ever, Waugh and Border typified the Aussie grit. Two elegant left-handers, Brian Lara and Kumar Sangakkara feature at numbers 6 and 7 respectively. These wonderful stroke players have carved a niche for themselves with their attacking and eye-catching batsmanship.

Then there is the Indian batting legend, Rahul Dravid. A masterful batting technique helped him become his teams’ most dependable batsman.
