Chapter-3:

The hero of the first test- Glenn McGrath was injured which enforced his exit from this test match. Who would have imagined that this moment was that glimmer of a tide which turned the series on its head. When the English side was put to bat, they could sense something magical in the air. They celebrated the ouster of McGra with a massive total of 407 runs on the board. Once again KP proved his mettle when he shared an electrifying stand with their star all-rounder Andrew Flintoff. The disciplined English bowlers restricted the Australians to a total of 308 runs and thereby taking an imperative lead of 99 runs.

Chapter -4:

Now, the onus was on the English batters to replicate some magic with the bat. But, the spirited Australian bowlers had restricted them to 75-6. But, then the plane named Freddie Flintoff took off with flying colours and mission of millions on his shoulders to en route his way to treasure some of the most fascinating memories of his life. He stretched past the lead to a fighting total of 282 runs with his breath taking knock of 73 runs with 4 hits over the ropes and 6 fours.

The radiance of the English bowlers outshined the burly Australians as they were reduced to 175-8. But, Australians are the last ones on the 22 yards to ever think of giving up. This blockbuster movie was all set for a dramatic climax, hearts were pounding and nerves had intruded as English team was one wicket away while Australians were 3 runs away from crossing the line. But, then came the moment of kudos for the home side when the ball from Harmison kissed the gloves of Kasprowicz and Geraint Jones held on to the most spectacular catch of his career. England registered the narrowest win of the Ashes history by 2 runs. Even before celebrating Freddie Flintoff lent across his comforting hand on Lee’s shoulder which is also marked as the most iconic sportsmanship moment in Ashes cricket. Flintoff was adjudged the player of the match for his awe-inspiring performance.
