Mumbai Indians are having a horrid run in IPL 2022 and their woes continued with the skipper Rohit Sharma getting out for a duck in the much-anticipated rivalry against the Chennai Super Kings. This is the 14th duck for Rohit in IPL history and it is the most for any batter as well. Rohit has managed just 114 runs in seven games for the Mumbai Indians this season and his struggles at the top of the order have played a big part in the franchise’s results so far as well.
Rohit hasn’t had a 500-run IPL tournament for a long time now and his numbers have come down significantly in the last three seasons. He has been getting the odd fifties at times in IPL but has had a phenomenal run in international cricket in the last few years which has been totally contrasting to the numbers in the cash-rich tournament. The right-hander has to assess things soon as his form will be crucial to Mumbai Indians in the remainder of the tournament.
Mukesh Choudhary picks up Rohit with an inswinger
Coming back to Rohit’s wicket, Mukesh Choudhary started the bowling for CSK, and the left-arm seamer was straightaway on the money with swing and pace. In just the second delivery of the innings, Choudhary bowled an excellent inswinger which curved back into Rohit and the batter closed the face quickly and lofted it to the mid-off fielder for an easy catch to Mitchell Santner.
In the final delivery of the same over, Choudhary removed Ishan Kishan as well for a golden duck with an outstanding yorker that shaped well. Kishan has been short of runs in the last few games for the Mumbai Indians and he has shown poor technique against the new ball as well. His strike rate has gone down massively and Mumbai will be worried about both their openers not being able to find form this season.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Rohit and Ishan’s duck:

Mukesh Choudhary has bowled so well. Quality bowling. To dismiss Rohit, Ishan & Brevis in his first two overs is a great effort. Showing his potential at a big stage
