44 Years of Sachinism - "Saaachin Saaachin!"

Every generation has a player who is the best and stands out from the rest. People call them the “greatest of all time” or the “best player to have graced the game” or simply “Legend” but somewhere down the line, these players are overshadowed by the next generation stars. However, there are some players who are immortal, their greatness cannot be described through words or through action, it can only be felt.

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is one such player. He is a phenomenon which has driven 1.2 billion people for more than two decades. He is the man who has carried the hopes of a nation which was struggling to find its feet. A man who united every single person of the country full of discrimination, a man who made the whole nation dream with him and helped them achieve it through him.

Sachin was not just a player for India, he was an emotion – he still is. A player who started out at a tender age of 16 overwhelmed everyone with his grit and determination. He was down and out many times during his career but the fans stuck with him and carried him through the tough times – just like he carried them through theirs.

His achievements go beyond those extraordinary records and no mortal can describe them through words. He made us forget all our sorrows and gave us joy in return.

Sachin Tendulkar was a dream that the whole nation lived for 24 glorious years. There was a time when no bowler in the world could stop him. Be it the 1998 ‘Dessert Storm’ or the 2003 World Cup, Sachin was immaculate. His journey in those 24 years is truly fascinating, his greatness is spellbinding and his humbleness is captivating.

Every aspiring cricketer of his generation has tried to emulate Sachin, some even made it to the Indian team. He has inspired a countless number of souls to chase their dreams and he has been an example for that himself. Sachin started out as a 10-year-old kid who wanted to win the World Cup and it was not until almost three decades later that he achieved it.

He was also there during the darkest times of Indian cricket, he was there for the fans and he was there for the nation when many failed. Sachin is more than a cricketer, he is a great human being. A person who never let his greatness get the better of him and like many, his greatness never became his downfall.

For all the things he has done for his country and his fans, for all the things he has done for the game of cricket, Sachin is truly a God of the game. Today, 24th April is the birthday of Sachin Tendulkar.
