Ravi Bishnoi is not a name you&#8217;d have heard before the Under 19 World Cup in January- February this year. But what he did in India&#8217;s campaign this year will be remembered for years to come.

It is beyond any explanation that how the 29-year-old Suryakumar Yadav, with all his grace, talent and the experience of playing competitive cricket for around 10 years, has not played for India till now.
Whenever the name Suryakumar Yadav pops up, the IPL fans will suddenly picture a middle-order batsman, quirking around the crease, finding gaps behind the square region and providing the Kolkata Knight Riders a crispy end to their innings. Yes, that&#8217;s the way he introduced himself to the big stage.
After having made his debut in 2012 for <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/3-players-royal-challengers-bangalore-backed-but-mumbai-indians-didnt-in-ipl/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mumbai Indians</a>, he was picked by the KKR in 2014 and made a name for himself. He was bought back by MI in 2018, and he hasn&#8217;t looked back since. He opened the innings and has scored over 900 runs in the previous two seasons, with a fantastic strike rate.
Not only that, he has been in sublime form in the domestic competitions too. He was amongst the top run-getters in last year&#8217;s Deodhar Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The writing is on the wall. He&#8217;s making a statement. If he continues performing like this, he can soon find himself in national colours.

In 2014, Shreyas Gopal, a leg-break bowler playing for Karnataka, became the first player in the history of Irani Cup to take a hat-trick, helping his side beat Rest Of India (ROI).
He debuted the same year in the IPL for Mumbai Indians and stayed in the Mumbai camp for four years, playing just 6 matches during the time. He showed his potential on the big stage when <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/rajasthan-royals-continue-their-ipl-preparations-with-a-camp-in-nagpur/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rajasthan Royals</a> picked him in 2018. In the two seasons then, he has played 25 matches, picking 31 wickets. His high point came on the 30th of April, 2019 when he took a hat-trick against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which included Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis. He has also shown ability with the bat.
The 26-year-old Shreyas Gopal represents his home state Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy and has also played the Karnataka Premier League. It is a general saying that leg spinners win you matches and Gopal is just that. He mixes up his leg-spin with his variations beautifully and that&#8217;s what deceives the batsmen. Thanks to his wicket-taking capability, he would most likely be looked by the new selectors.

Ravi Bishnoi is not a name you&#8217;d have heard before the Under 19 World Cup in January- February this year. But what he did in India&#8217;s campaign this year will be remembered for years to come.
There&#8217;s not much to write about the 19-year-old leg spinner from Rajasthan. He made his T20 debut for his home state just last February. He made his Vijay Hazare debut in September 2019, playing for India A in Deodhar Trophy in October. Ravi Bishnoi made news when <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/mitchell-mcclenaghan-trolls-kings-xi-punjab-fan-after-he-tries-to-take-a-dig-at-new-zealand/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kings XI Punjab</a> bought him for Rs.2 crores, but his moment was yet to come. It came in the World Cup. Picking 17 wickets in 6 matches, he was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. Against Japan, at one moment, he took 4 wickets without giving away any run.
If one wants to know how brilliant Ravi Bishnoi is, rewind just a month ago to the final of the Under-19 World Cup, to the 29th over of the Bangladesh innings. Bishnoi came for his 8th over. Parvez Hussain was well set on 38 off 60 deliveries.
In the next six balls he bowled to him, Parvez was just able to toe-end one of them, missing five. That was bowling of the highest order. Ravi Bishnoi is not your traditional leg spinner. He relies more on his variations, and he&#8217;s damn good at it. The kind of skill he has shown, he isn&#8217;t very far away from donning the senior national team jersey.
