2. Mitchell McClenaghan
The 31-year-old Kiwi fast bowler has been signed up by the Sydney Thunder for this edition of the Big Bash League which is nothing short of a coup. McClenaghan has enjoyed considerable success in the T20 format while representing the Mumbai Indians in the IPL with his quickfire pace and bounce. His composed and inch-perfect bowling performances even under pressure, ability to hold his own in any scenario makes him a match-winner for any franchise in the T20 format.
His Mumbai Indians teammate Mitch Johnson said:
He will further enjoy an opportunity to face off against Mitchell Johnson with whom he shares an amazing bond. “He’s cracking, he’s awesome. I came over here and played a bit of cricket when I was a youngster straight out of school, played on the Gold Coast for a bit.”
“And I remember changing my action to bowl like Mitch. I made my first-class debut with Mitch’s action and it’s kind of evolved from there. I got my first first-class wicket off a wide full toss to point. I probably emulated him probably a little too well. At that point, I realised I needed to change.”
