One of the most under-rated cricketers of the 21st century is the South African batting maverick, Hashim Amla. In his prime, he was the crisis man of Proteas as he routinely stood up for the team in crunch situations. He is a rare cricketing gem for the African nation with his ability to adapt to different kinds of bowling attacks and dominated all of them.

Along with batting, his on-field etiquettes truly defined the meaning of gentlemen’s game. The right-hander is the proud owner of numerous batting records as he has accumulated over 18,500 international runs. Amla was the first permanent non-white captain of Proteas when he was assigned the captaincy role after the retirement of Graeme Smith.

The Mighty Hash looked a pale shadow of himself in the 2019 World Cup. His failure was one of the reasons why the side was knocked out in the group stages. South Africa is set to play two Test series later in the year including one against England on home soil and Amla might consider calling it a day at the end of the series.
