Glenn McGrath is arguably the best fast bowler the world has ever seen. The Australian played international cricket for 14 years and bamboozled batsmen around the world in that period. He was a part of three successful World Cup campaigns where he played a pivotal role for Australia. The fast bowler was also a part of the victorious campaign of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2006.

McGrath’s lethal weapon was to move the ball in the air and off the wicket too which resulted in a lot of caught behind dismissals. He formed a great partnership with Ian Healy and then Adam Gilchrist who both held on to the chances the tall fast bowler created. McGrath finished his Test career with 563 wickets off 124 Test matches. In 250 ODIs, McGrath accounted for 381 sticks. Like most bowlers, McGrath got most batsmen dismissed by caught out but the caught behind ratio was the second best with 27%.

McGrath and Gilchrist involved in a stumping

In the ODI arena, McGrath played a bit of modern-day cricket as well towards the latter half of his career. Not many fast bowlers have a stumping dismissal against their name and McGrath had one in ODI cricket. It is a record not all fast bowlers would be proud of.

In a game against New Zealand, Craig McMillan was repeatedly using his feet against McGrath. In a bid to stop him, Gilchrist had stood up to the stumps. McMillan stepped out again but missed it altogether and Gilchrist took the bails out in a flash to give McGrath this dubious record.

Gilchrist and McGrath were great mates and in a friendly jibe, Gilchrist responded to this video saying that McGrath might want to withdraw this from the record books.

In an illustrious career, this was the only stumping dismissal for McGrath. He also took part in 2 T20 internationals where he picked 5 wickets with 3/31 being his best bowling figures.
