Afghanistan to host Pakistan’s Habib Bank Limited team for cricket series

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is set to host Pakistan’s domestic giants Habib Bank Limited cricket team for a cricket series. The tourney will comprise of two 4-day matches and four One Day matches. According to the ACB, the matches will commence from 14th May in the capital city of Kabul under the name Alokozay International Cricket Series.

This is the first time Afghanistan will host a foreign cricket team for cricket series. ACB Chairman Nasimullah Danish said the cricket series will not only help increase the supporters of cricket in Afghanistan but will also help the growth of cricket sport in the country.

ACB Chief Executive Officer Shafiqullah Stanikzai considered the Alokozay International Cricket Series as the first breakthrough achieved and expressed that ACB is keen to host similar series featuring foreign teams in Afghanistan. He says this cricket series will help the spectators enjoy some highly spectacular performance by their favorite teams.

Afghanistan Cricket is one of the fastest growing cricketing nations in Asia. They have achieved major success in multi-nation ICC events, gaining a massive fan following. Former Afghan head coach Inzamam-ul-Haq, who played a huge role in the team surge at the international level, had also insisted that the Afghan team should play against big teams more often in a bid to gain more experience and expand their capabilities in the future.

Earlier, the Afghan national team was scheduled to play against Pakistan in Pakistan. Unfortunately, the tour was cancelled due to security concerns in the country.
