In the latest development of the Champions Trophy 2017, South African batting legend and captain AB de Villiers has been confirmed fit by Cricket South Africa officials for the virtual qualifier against India tomorrow at The Oval. De Villiers had sustained a hamstring injury against Pakistan at the Edgbaston during the fielding before the sky opened up to erase hopes South Africa’s in their second game.

The 33-year-old batting mainstay would be aiming to score a good number of runs after being ducked in his last game. He underwent fitness test which said the batsman is fit and raring to go for the big clash. This also means that all-rounder Farhaan Behardien will not be inducted into the side. In his last two games combined, de Villiers has scored only 4 runs and he will be hoping to make a big difference when it matters the most.

Cricket South Africa tweeted a picture of the batter which was captioned as “from the skip @ABdeVilliers17. He’s fit and ready to go for the match tomorrow #INDvSA #CT17”

India are most likely to bring in premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for the match and in return bench either Hardik Pandya or Kedar Jadhav. Ashwin, who was phenomenal during India’s long home season, didn’t play the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League due to sports hernia. However, Ashwin was drafted into the Indian team for the Champions Trophy but was not included in the first two games.

Either Pandya or Jadhav may be out

But poor show from the bowling department in the previous game against Sri Lanka will mean Ashwin will be brought into the attacks as he can pick up a wicket or two in the middle overs. On the other hand, either Hardik Pandya or Kedar Jadhav may have to make his way out, but considering that Pandya is good with the ball as well, Jadhav may be benched.
