Delhi Daredevils skipper Zaheer Khan bowled extremely well for the franchise against the Rising Pune Supergiant as he picked up three important wickets in the game. The bowler single-handedly took down the opening pair of the Pune franchise helping his side get the much needed early wickets.

Former Indian bowler Ajit Agarkar was all praise for his old teammate and Delhi Skipper as he seems to be impressed with the way Zaheer is bowling. Zaheer’s bowling clearly shows that he still has that spark left in him and can deliver for whichever side he is performing for. The player has a poor Indian Premier League season last year as he took only 10 wickets in the 12 matches he had played. But this year he looks much fresher and an improved individual as he has already taken 5 wickets in two matches.

Agarkar quoted “The start has been good. Having not played any cricket throughout the season. He must have put up a lot of work in the last couple of months. It is still early days”

But amidst the good words, Agarkar clearly pointed out that Zaheer needs to be ready for the bigger challenges that are yet to come in the season.

“The conditions sometimes got in his favour. DD was defending 200 once. He bowled well on a good Pune pitch. The pitch held up a little bit against RCB in Bangalore.”

The 39-year-old also hailed the leadership of the left-handed pacer saying that he holds the team well together.

“If you put a string of victories together early on, it might make his job easier as the tournament goes on. His leadership has been really good for Delhi and he holds the team really well.”

Delhi has had a mixed tournament so far with one win in the bag from two games. They fell short of an achievable target of 158 in the first game as their batting order failed miraculously. But they came back strong in the second putting up a total of 205/4 batting first which was followed up by a strong bowling performance. They successfully restricted the Rising Pune Supergiant to a low score of 108 scripting their first victory of the season.
