Delhi Capitals resumed their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. As the Rishabh Pant-led side were on a roll in the first phase of the competition, many were intrigued to see how they kick-start the UAE leg. Notably, the coin landed in SRH’s favour and skipper Kane Williamson elected to bat first.

With the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Ravichandran Ashwin in ranks, many backed DC to put up a commendable bowling show against the Orange Army. Besides them, however, a fielder from Delhi Capitals bagged a lot of attention in the first innings. He was none other than Caribbean dasher Shimron Hetmyer. Known for tormenting bowlers with big hits, Hetmyer, on this occasion, became a talking point due to his looks.

The left-handed batter was sporting an intriguing hairstyle. While his hairs at the top were coloured blue, the other sides remained black. The cameraman also captured the youngster on multiple occasions and fans came up with different opinions. Several lauded Hetmyer’s new looks while a section of netizens also reacted with memes.

Shimron Hetmyer performed decently in CPL 2021:

Meanwhile, Hetmyer was in decent form in the recently-concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021. Playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors, the 24-year-old slammed 218 runs in 11 outings and also registered a couple of half-centuries in the process. The dasher did pretty well in the first of IPL as well. Hence, he won’t mind replicating his heroics again.

Speaking of Delhi Capitals, they hardly did anything wrong in the first leg of the competition. The Rishabh Pant-led side performed brilliantly as a unit and registered one victory after another. As a result, they were at the top of the team standings at the time of season suspension, having won five of their seven games. Hence, the Capitals would be raring to extend their purple patch to get the glory in the Arab nation.

As far as Sunrisers Hyderabad are concerned, they endured a horrendous campaign in the first half. Having won just one of their first seven games, they were last in the team standings at the time of season suspension. This means a couple of wins in the UAE leg could end their hopes of securing a place in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati have to say about Shimron Hetmyer’s new hairstyle:
