Along with spectators in a game, commentators are also considered as a requisite for enhancing the overall viewing experience. Any game, without a staple crowd or an interesting commentary panel, is nothing less than a bland delicacy. In the modern era where T20 cricket has been predominant across the globe, an exciting commentary voice has now become a part and parcel of the game.
Even before the emergence of the T20 era, no fan can forget the voices of Richie Benaud, Sunil Gavaskar, Geoffrey Boycott and Harsha Bhogle. These commentators had become the voice of the sport and people can still identify their tone and words in a matter of seconds.
After bidding adieu to the sport, many cricketers such as Aakash Chopra have entered the world of commentary. After starting his career from Delhi, Chopra went on to represent the national side and now, he has reinvented himself as a commentator and presenter in the world of cricket.
Aakash Chopra, in a YouTube interaction, revealed many life instances and his cricketing journey. During the conversation, Chopra was also asked to name an Indian actor who can be a good commentator.
Aakash Chopra believes one needs to be spontaneous in the commentary box
Chopra went with two big names– Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. He lauded the spontaneity of both these Bollywood superstars. According to Chopra, many Bollywood stars tend to baffle when it comes to the commentary but that’s not the case with Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan.
“You have to go with Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. You need spontaneity, you see a lot of stars great on Indian screen but they fall short when it comes to commentary. SRK and Amit Ji can do whatever they can, they can be great commentators,” Akash Chopra told The RK Show.
At a time when the sports world is hit by the COVID-19 outbreak, many members of the cricket fraternity including Chopra have notched up their social media interactions. Chopra has been quite active on his YouTube channel as well as Twitter amid the lockdown.
Chopra, in a recent interaction with Ajit Agarkar, had revealed his unpleasant experience with fans of MS Dhoni. After excluding Dhoni from his T20 World Cup 2020 squad, Chopra was bashed and abused so much that he had to close social media for a few days. Fans didn’t hold back in abusing Chopra’s kids as well.
“I had to close social media for a few days. People abused me so much, it kept on coming, they abused the kids as well. I said please pardon me guys, what happened has happened,” Chopra had revealed the aftermath of sharing his opinion over Dhoni’s future.
