If things had panned out as expected for Afghanistan against Pakistan and Bangladesh, they would have been playing India in the Super-4s match as a warm-up for the final. However, a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Pakistan and a 3-run defeat against Bangladesh saw them crash out of the tournament. The Afghan team will be hoping to return home on high by defeating India, who seem to be pretty set for yet another Asia Cup title win.

All the key stats and numbers ahead of Afghanistan’s final game of the Asia Cup 2018:

1 – India and Afghanistan met only once in the ODI format thus far. Both the teams faced off in the Asia Cup 2014 match where the Indian team got better of Afghans by an 8-wicket margin. India defeated the Afghanistan team in the two T20Is (WT20 2010 and WT20 2014) and in the one-off Test match earlier this year.

3 – Hashmatullah Shahidi has scored three consecutive fifties in this Asia Cup. His last three innings read 58, 97* and 71. If he scores a fifty in the next innings, he will be the first Afghanistan player to score four consecutive fifties in the ODI format.

4-2 – Afghanistan’s win-loss record in the ODI format against top nine ranked countries. They defeated Windies twice during the World Cup Qualifiers and defeated Sri Lanka and Bangladesh by huge margins in the Group stage of this tournament. However, they went down in the final over against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

13.3 – Rashid Khan’s bowling average in ODI cricket against top nine ranked teams of 13.3 is better than his overall average of 14.37. In the 11 matches against top teams, Rashid claimed 27 wickets including a career-best 7-wicket haul.

65.28 – Shikhar Dhawan’s batting average in major ODI tournaments (Asia Cup, CWC and CT). The left-hander scored 1632 runs in 26 innings with seven centuries and six fifties.

96 – Number of wickets Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken in his ODI career. The pacer needs four more wickets to become the 19th Indian to bag 100 wickets in ODI cricket.

194* – Rohit Sharma has scored 194 runs in his last two ODI innings without being dismissed. He has scored three fifties in his last three innings: 111*, 83*, 52. If Rohit scores a fifty against Afghanistan, he will be the first captain to score four consecutive fifties in the Asia Cup. Only Arjuna Ranatunga has hit a hat-trick of fifties in the Asia Cup before Rohit.
