David Warner continued his dream run with the bat to power his side to a clean sweep over New Zealand in the 3-match ODI series. After electing to bat at MCG, the Australians found themselves in troubles as they were reduced to 73/4 in 19th over. Despite the wickets, Warner continued to bat with ease and got out on the very last ball of the innings at 156 to power Australia to 264/8.
The Aussie pace attack kept unsettling the New Zealand batsmen after a good start to bowl them out for just 147. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.
1 – David Warner is now the first Australia to score ODI centuries in consecutive innings on two different occasions. He was the last player to score centuries in consecutive ODI innings. He did it in 2012 CB series final vs Sri Lanka.
2 – David Warner’s 1388 ODI runs in 2016 are the 2nd most for any player in a calendar year with 50+ average and 100+ strike rate. Sachin Tendulkar scored 1894 runs in 1998.
2 – David Warner has two 150+ scores in ODIs in 2016. He became the 2nd Australian and 8th batsman overall to score two 150+ scores in a calendar year. Matthew Hayden scored two 150+ scores in ODIs in 2007.
4 – Number of 150+ scores David Warner has in ODI cricket, joint 2nd most for any player. Only Sachin Tendulkar has more than Warner. No other Australian has scored more than two 150+ scores in ODIs.
