Pat Cummins and his team continued their utter dominance against England on home soil as Australia defeated the visitors by 146 runs on Day 3 of the fifth Test in Hobart. With this victory, the Kangaroos clinched the series 4-0, exactly the same scoreline which the English side suffered in the last Ashes series in 2017/18 down under.

Speaking of how Day 3 panned out, Mark Wood wreaked havoc with his hostile spell of bowling as he took 6 wickets for 37 runs, his career-best bowling figures, to bowl Australia out for just 155 runs in the second innings. Steve Smith was dismissed for 27 runs while centurion from the first innings. Travis Head didn’t do much as he too became a victim of Mark Wood for just eight runs. Wicketkeeper batter Alex Carey scored 49 runs as the visitors were set a target of 271 runs.

Rory Burns and Zak Crawley added 68 runs for the opening wicket, England’s highest in The Ashes since 2013, as the former was the first one to get dismissed by all-rounder Cameron Green for 26 runs. His partner Crawley was the highest scorer in the innings with 36 runs as England’s vulnerable and awful tour with the willow continued.

No other batter managed to reach even 20 runs mark as skipper Cummins along with Scott Boland and Cameron Green took three wickets each to hand England a thrashing of 146 runs eventually losing the Urn by a 4-0 margin. Travis Head was adjudged the Player of the Match for his century in the first innings and also the Player of the series for chalking up 357 runs at an average of 59.50.
