Watch: Australian women cricketer foxes Brian Lara: Brian Lara is counted as one of the classiest batsman ever to have played cricket. However, this video is contradictory to the widely accepted above written description of him. The occasion was ‘Sir Donald Bradman XI v World XI’ match at Sydney Cricket Ground in the year 1994.
This match was a 12 players a side 50 overs match featuring present and retired legends.
Batting first, Sir Donald Bradman XI posted a respectable 269 runs on the scoreboard. In reply, World XI were chasing the target and Lara was at the crease.
Brain Lara was an established world class batsman by now. However, he was foxed by a female cricketer and lost his wicket unpredictably.
The name of the fortunate woman who dismissed him was Zoe Goss. She was a representative of the Australian Women national team in the match.
Zoe Goss, a medium pacer, ran in fluently and delivered an away swinger to Lara. Call it overconfidence or just a reckless shot, but Lara jumped out of his crease in his trademark style attempting to disappear the ball in the stands.
But, the ball swung enough to beat Lara’s flashing willow and the wicket keeper S Rixon finished the work by smoothly stumping him out.
Zoe Goss was obviously jubilant. Ironically, in the first innings, Lara had dismissed Zoe. A smiling Lara began walking towards the pavilion acknowledging the crowd who were applauding him.
The match was attended by several celebrities and sportspersons and had an overall attendance of 17,500 people.
