Bangladesh announce squad for ACC Youth Asia Cup 2017

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced the 16-man squad for the upcoming edition of the ACC Youth Asia Cup. The tournament is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the youth cricket calendar. Over the years, the tournament has been a breeding ground for the international cricket stars of the future. Many talented players often come out as the products of this particular tournament.

The 2017 edition of the ACC Youth Asia Cup will commence from November 10 this year. There will be 8 teams participating in the mega event of the Asian cricket calendar. The 8 participating teams are – India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Nepal, Afghanistan, and Malaysia. The tournament will be played in Malaysia this year. There are two pools comprising of 4 teams each.

In the pool A, India, Nepal, hosts Malaysia, and Bangladesh are grouped together; whilst Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Singapore are in Pool B. The BCB selectors have left no stone unturned in naming a strong contingent for the tournament. Young cricketer Saif Hasan has been named as the captain of the team and Afif Hossain will be his deputy.

Among other popular names in the list, the names of Mohammam Rakib, Roni Hossain, and Hasan Mahmud stand out. Four cricketers – Sojib Hossain, Rayan Rafsan, Monirul Islam, and Yeasin Arafat have been named as the stand-by players for the tournament. The Bangladeshi team will leave for Malaysia on the coming Wednesday (November 8). The tournament is expected to be high action and closely competed event among the young emerging stars
