The other Bangladeshi opener finished as the second highest run-scorer behind Tamim Iqbal with 143 runs in 4 innings. The best part about Kayes’s batting was the consistency. He came up with scores on 3 out of 4 occasions and all were crucial in the context of the low-scoring matches.

His innings of 78 in the second innings of the second Test proved to be the most important innings of the series for Bangladesh. Bangladesh had conceded the lead of 24 runs after the innings and it was necessary for someone to get a big score. He helped the team to set a target of 273 runs for England which ultimately proved to be more than enough.
