The Big Bash League (BBL) season has entered its final leg of the round matches. The 51st game of the season will witness the contest between the Perth Scorchers and the Melbourne Stars. While the Orange Army, Scorchers, have been knocked out of the tournament already, the Stars are in with more than a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. They are at the fourth position with six wins after 11 matches and have one more match in their hand at the moment than most of the teams.

This game marks a special significance for the Scorchers. Michael Klinger has announced his BBL retirement after this season and will be playing his last home game on Sunday. He hasn’t been in the best of nicks this year and would love to bid adieu to his home ground in a memorable way. Even his Scorchers teammates would be willing to go an extra yard in order to bring a smile on their veteran’s face.

The Stars, on the other hand, are on the three-match winning streak and a win for them would shut the doors for the Sydney Thunder. Also, it will make terribly difficult for the defending champions Adelaide Strikers to go through. The Stars though wouldn’t have to panic in case they lose this game as they will still have their fate in their own hands but the team would look to settle the matters in this game itself.

Pitch and Conditions

The Optus Stadium has produced a few high-scoring games this season and has favoured the chasing teams so far. Only once the team batting first has won in six matches and the trend should continue for this game. The clouds will be clear during the duration of the match and the temperatures will hover around 26-28 Degrees Celsius.

Team Combinations

Perth Scorchers

Michael Klinger is set to replace the injured Shaun Marsh at the top of the order and he will open along side Cameron Bancroft. Mitchell Marsh and Ashton Turner follow then in the middle-order while Nick Hobson will look to up the ante late in the innings. Nathan Coulter-Nile’s return boasts the bowling attack as he will join the likes of Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye while Usman Qadir will miss this game.

Probable XI: Cameron Bancroft (wk), Michael Klinger, Mitchell Marsh (c), Ashton Turner, Hilton Cartwright/Josh Inglis, Nick Hobson, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Clint Hincliffe, Andrew Tye, Matthew Kelly, Jason Behrendorff.

Melbourne Stars

Marcus Stoinis is set to play this game after he wasn’t picked in Australia’s Test team. He will open with Ben Dunk while the strong middle-order comprising Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell and Nic Maddinson will follow. Jackson Coleman will make a comeback as Tom O Connell is not the part of the 13-man squad. Jackson Bird, Liam Plunkett and Dwayne Bravo are the other fast bowlers along with the leggie Adam Zampa.

Probable XI: Marcus Stoinis, Ben Dunk, Peter Handscomb (wk), Glenn Maxwell (c), Nic Maddinson, Evan Gulbis, Dwayne Bravo, Liam Plunkett, Jackson Coleman, Jackson Bird, Adam Zampa.
