Sydney Sixers recorded yet another big win in the BBL 2020-21 as they got the better of Adelaide Strikers by 38 runs on Sunday. Sixers, who batted first, posted a solid total of 177/5 thanks to 16-ball 50 from Daniel Christian with nine boundaries including 5 maximums. Christian walked to bat with Strikers struggling at 58/3 in 11.1 overs but got another 58 runs in the next 3.3 overs before getting out. Strikers got to fifty in only 4.1 overs without losing a wicket but ended up with only 139/7 by losing wickets at regular intervals.

Streaks of Sixers and Strikers:

5 – Sydney Sixers now have won each of their last five matches in the BBL they played against the Adelaide Strikers. The streak of Sixers began in the 2018-19 season and the previous four wins came while chasing. The Sydney Sixers have also won each of their last five matches in the BBL while defending a total.

2013 – Adelaide Strikers have lost each of their last four matches played at the Bellerive Oval. Their lone win in the BBL at this venue came in 2012-13 season which was their first-ever appearance here. Strikers played five matches since then in Hobart losing four of them while another game ended without a result.


Christian’s record knock:

15 – Daniel Christian needed only 15 balls to complete his fifty against the Strikers which is now the 2nd fastest fifty in terms of balls in the history of Big Bash League. The fastest is recorded by Chris Gayle in just 12 balls during the 2015-16 season for the Renegades also against the Adelaide Strikers. Christian’s fifty is also the first in the BBL to come in less than 20 balls for the Sixers.

92 % – Daniel Christian scored 92% of his 50 runs through boundaries; the highest proportion of runs scored through boundaries in a BBL inning. (Min: 50 runs) The previous highest was 90.20% by Cameron Boyce who scored 46 runs of his unbeaten 51 via boundaries during the 2018-19 season game for Renegades against Sydney Thunder.

4 – Christian now has picked up at least one wicket in four BBL games where he scored a fifty; the joint 2nd most times any player has scored 50+ runs and took at least one wicket in the same BBL game. Glenn Maxwell leads the list with six such performances while D’Arcy Short and Marcus Stoinis also have four such matches apiece.

  


Holder starts his BBL career with a six:

2 – Jason Holder became only the 2nd overseas player to hit a six on the first ball he faced in his Big Bash League career. Rashid Khan was the first player with this feat which he achieved during the 2017-18 edition. Among the local players, Carl Sandri (2013-14) and Jake Lehmann (2015-16) also hit their first ball in the BBL for a six.


Wells @ 1000:

1020 – Jonathan Wells completed 1000 runs in the BBL for Adelaide Strikers when he went past his individual score of 20 during the SIX vs STR match. Wells is now the 4th player after Travis Head, Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey to complete 1000 BBL runs for the Strikers.
