KL Rahul is continuing to shine in the ongoing India-Australia Test series and is hopeful of taking India to 1-1. Once again he delighted fans at his home ground by scoring his third fifty in the series and taking India to 213/4 at the end of Day 3, managing an important 126 run lead. Chateshwar Pujara remained unbeaten on 79, accompanied by Ajinkya Rahane who was 40 not out.
However, KL expressed disappointment on not being able to convert his fifty into a hundred. “Been really disappointing, getting to start and not converting them, especially when the team needed me to stay out and get big runs. Tried to build from strength to strength and hopefully, I can build on it moving forward too. Hopefully, Rahane and Pujara can continue and get us a 100 more runs, that’ll be gold” he told in the post match conference.
After his 3rd fifty today, KL Rahul became only the third opener to register a 50+ score in each innings of a Test at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Ajay Jadeja and Gordon Greenidge were the others to achieve the feat at the venue.
KL also spoke about how the damp pitch and his experience of playing on this ground helped him. “It was a little easier than the first innings when the pitch was damp and that’s why it bounced a bit more. I’ve played a lot of cricket here, it’s my home and I know the third day is the best to bat. On the fourth day a few will keep down and a few will bounce up. So now we are really happy we got off to a good start and got good partnerships”

Despite a dangerous spell of bowling from Josh Hazlewood and the pressure of putting up a better batting performance after three successful failures, India’s batsmen steered the ship towards safety, passing the game into an absorbing fourth day.
