The Khulna Tigers have arguably been the most dominant team in the 2019-20 Bangabandhu BPL. Having garnered three effortless wins on the trot, Mushfiqur Rahim and Co is the only unbeaten team in the T20 league. A net run rate of +2.514 will also help their cause of finishing in the top two spots. In their last match, the Tigers rolled over cellar dwellers Rangpur Rangers by eight wickets.

Their next match is against the Sylhet Thunder in the first of Saturday’s doubleheader. It’s a great chance for the Tigers to win four in a row since the Thunder aren’t in the best of form. Mosaddek Hossain’s Thunder are on a four-match losing streak and are placed sixth on the points table. Sylhet previously lost to the Chattogram Challengers by four wickets after getting bowled out for 128.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium has been an absolute belter. The batsmen have mostly made hay and the track hasn’t changed in nature throughout the duration of the matches. Moreover, four out of the five matches have been won by the chasing teams. The conditions will be cloudy, but with no chances of rain. The temperature will be around the 22 degrees Celsius mark.

The Tigers’ batting has been their stronger aspect thus far. Rilee Rossouw is currently the leading run-scorer of the BPL, having scored 172 runs with a couple of half-centuries. The 18-year-old Rahmanullah Gurbaz also made amends with a quick-fire 37 after failing against Rajshahi Royals.

Mushfiqur Rahim also has delivered with 141 runs. The Tigers’ will be a tad concerned with Najmul Hossain’s form as the left-hander has five runs from three games. In bowling, Shafiul, Amir and Shahidul Islam have four wickets each. Even Frylinck, Robiul and Mehidy have been reasonable.

The Thunder have strained to find the most apt combination for the batting lineup. Mohammad Mithun has lost a bit of rhythm after his unbeaten 84 in the first match. Mosaddek Hossain Saikat is their most in-form batter and he needs to promote himself and bat for a chunk of the overs.

Rony Talukdar and Johnson Charles are yet to get a big score under their belt. In the bowling department, Krishmar Santokie has four wickets in his kitty. Ebadot Hossain has three wickets to show for his efforts. Apart from the duo, the rest of the bowling hasn’t lived to expectations.
