Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum retired from all forms of the game after the 2015-16 season. He had stunned everyone with his sudden decision. Many believed that Baz, as he is popularly known, must have at least continued till the ICC World T20 2016. However, the decision was taken and there was no looking back for the wicket-keeper batsman.

After having retired from all forms of international cricket, Brendon McCullum continued to serve his traits in the T20 leagues around the world. He even led the Brisbane Heat in the 2016-17 edition of the Big Bash League. Currently, he is playing for the Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League 2017. The way he is playing, he is looking super fit. He has been amongst the runs and has been a live wire on the field.

McCullum has taken some stunners in the recent past and is seen as one of the best boundary riders in the business these days. During the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Rajkot recently, the former Kiwi cricketer almost pulled off a stunner on the ropes. Later in the game, the big match player hit a belligerent 72 runs off just 44 balls. Watching him bat, it is very tough to concede that he has retired from the game.

Now, with the ICC Champions Trophy round the corner, there are a few fans who believe that perhaps Brendon McCullum could stage a comeback to international cricket yet again. The Tests are a far cry but the ODIs can certainly be taken into consideration. Craig Cummin, a former Kiwi cricketer, took to Twitter to ask the same question to Baz.

He noted that with the Champions Trophy approaching and Baz being in sublime touch, things might just align the perfect way for the team. In his tweet, he wrote, “Just wondering, any chance @Bazmccullum might want to play the champions trophy, I reckon @BLACKCAPS would fit him in  #form #floppyhat”.

McCullum responded back to the tweet and gave his verdict on the potential ODI comeback. Much to the disappointment of the fans, he ruled it out by quoting the format to be a bit too long. He wrote, “50 overs a bit long mate!”
