Former Australian bowler Brett Lee feels that the return of “once in a generation” bowler Pat Cummins can cause a lot of trouble to England in the Ashes which is scheduled at the end of the year. Cummins was brought into the Australian test side as a replacement of Mitchell Starc for the final two test matches against India.

The bowler made good use of the opportunity and performed extremely well on the Indian pitches as he took a total of eight wickets in the final two matches. His return will only add strength to an already fiery Australian pace attack.

Brett Lee quoted the Indian Express “What Pat Cummins can bring is pace, aggression, control and anything between that. He is a once in a generation bowler and you have got to harness that amazing talent”

James Pattinson has also shown great form in domestic cricket after returning from a 12 month injury period in February and could be in contention for the Ashes. If he makes it to the Ashes squad Australia’s pace attack it would definitely be a headache for the English batsmen to tackle at the end of the year.

Brett Lee who was himself an excellent fast bowler in his playing days said that he would be definitely scared to face such a pace attack. “I would be (scared), absolutely. It’s a pretty serious pace barrage that you’ve got. Australian bowling stocks now are pretty healthy”

He also praised the likes of Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc and spoke about how they complement each other while bowling.

“Hazlewood is more of hitting the good length, day in and day out. With Starc you will be full, short, good length, yorkers, the whole thing. Two completely different bowlers but complementing each other because they are building pressure from each end. Then you throw in someone like a Pat Cummins. It’s a pretty handy attack.”
