The year 2018 ended on a great note for West Indies star Carlos Brathwaite. The Windies allrounder had earned a lucrative deal in last IPL auction. Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders had paid a whopping price of Rs 5 crore to bring Brathwaite to the Eden Gardens — the venue where he had famously smashed four sixes off four balls in the last over from Ben Stokes to power Windies to the World T20 title in 2016.

Brathwaite was the costliest player for the Knight Riders in the last auction and the fifth costliest overall. In fact, the pace-bowling allrounder, who had previously plied his trade for Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad was the first player in the last auction to breach the Rs 5 crore mark. And Brathwaite has used the money he earned in this season of IPL to perhaps fulfil his long-cherished dream.

He bought a new four-wheeler and did not wait long to introduce his ‘new baby’ to his fans. Brathwaite took to Instagram to post a few pictures of the moment when he was receiving the Range Rover. Cherishing his journey from a humble beginning to the pinnacle of the game, Brathwaite wrote:

” It’s been quite a journey for me! I’ve received blessings upon blessings and have worked hard over the years to be able to cherish and spoil myself! Meet my new baby 😍. Here’s to the newest member of the family 🥂 @alexanders_prestige @landrover_uk #blessed #goodvibesonly #livelifetothefullest”

Brathwaite fails to deliver

Carlos Brathwaite, meanwhile, failed to deliver his IPL. In fact, he got to play just two games. He scored 6 and 5 in those two games while going wicketless with the ball. As far as his team Knight Riders are concerned, they missed out on the playoffs. The Kolkata-based outfit had won six games but could not make it to the last four due to poor net run-rate.

Brathwaite, meanwhile, will be looking to deliver in the upcoming World Cup playing for Windies. He is a part of West Indies’ 15-man World Cup squad. The tournament gets underway on May 30 with hosts England taking on South Africa in the opener. West Indies will open their campaign against Pakistan on May 31.
