It has been an abrupt exit for Chandika Hathurusingha from the helm of Bangladesh cricket. The Bangladeshi side flourished under his services as the head coach of the team. However, soon after the team returned from South Africa after a horror tour wash, Chandika opted to stay away from his role with the team.

Soon, reports started to surface about Sri Lanka Cricket showing interest in roping in the services of Chandika Hathurusingha as their head coach. Also, the reports suggested that Chandika would become the highest paid Sri Lankan coach ever.

The President of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Thilanga Sumathipala, recently conceded that they have already made their intentions of hiring Chandika Hathurusingha clear to the Bangladeshi counterparts. Now, as per the recent reports in PakObserver, the BCB Chief, Nazmul Hasan Papon, has quoted that the former coach has agreed to make a courtesy visit to Bangladesh soon.

“Hathurusingha has agreed to come to Dhaka and we expect his arrival in the first week of December,” quoted the BCB Chief. “Will not press him to reveal the reasons behind his resignation but we expect him to submit the last (South Africa) tour report and also the development plan he had prepared for the game in our country,” he added further.

No complications in releasing Chandika

He further confirmed that the BCB received the letter from the SLC regarding Chandika’s appointment. He assured that there will be no legal issues in releasing the former Sri Lankan cricketer from the Bangladeshi roster. However, the board wants Chandika to arrive in Bangladesh to complete all the formal proceedings.

“We have already replied to this letter and there won’t be any legal issues for releasing him. We want him to complete certain formalities and once it is done, he is free,” Hasan quoted.
