Comparing Virat Kohli to Donald Trump a load of shit: Michael Clarke

Team India captain Virat Kohli has arguably been the greatest batsmen in the world in the last couple of years irrespective of formats and has scored heaps of runs against each and every opponent. But in the ongoing 4 match Test series against the Australians, Kohli has failed miserably in the 5 innings he has played so far which is bound to give him a headache or two going into the final Test in Dharamsala in a couple of days time.

The flamboyant Delhi lad has faced a lot of hatred from the Australian media following the Bangalore Test where Kohli lashed out at his rival captain Steve Smith and said looking at the dressing room for confirmation wasn’t a brain fade as he had seen that happening from the last two days.

After the incident, an Australian daily claimed that Kohli had hurled a Gatorade bottle towards an Australian official while another newspaper compared him with US President Donald Trump.

“VIRAT Kohli has become the Donald Trump of world sport,” an article in the Daily telegraph read. “The Indian captain is a law unto himself with no one – not even the ICC or his own board – holding him accountable for his continual perpetuation of fake news.

“Just like President Trump, Kohli decided to blame the media as a means of trying to hide the egg smeared right across his face,” the article further added. Former Aussie captain Michael Clarke during his interaction with India Today called the comparison” a load of shit”.

“Comparing Virat Kohli with Donald Trump – what a load of shit s that. What Virat did, even Smith would have. Bear in mind, I love Kohli and the Australian public love him. It’s just two or three reporters who are trying to tarnish him,” Clarke was quoted as saying by India Today.

Clarke said that the series has been an evenly contested one and the Australian media focusing solely on Kohli has allowed the likes of KL Rahul, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara to play freely. “Virat is tough and if you’re number one, then you have got to be tough. That’s how champions play,” Clarke said.

Clarke concluded by reckoning that the Aussies won’t complain of the way Kohli is playing at the moment and leading his team.
