In a very unfortunate incident, the wife of ace Indian cricketer, Ravindra Jadeja, was recently attacked by a Police Constable. Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba, was recently attacked by the constable named Sanjay Kurungi in Jamnagar. The actions sent some serious shock headlines in the media. Now, it has been learnt that the police constable has been suspended by the authorities.

The man who ensured that there was a serious escalation in the matter is young Superintendent of Police, Pradeep Sejul. As per the recent quotes in the Kashmir Times, Sejul gave the details about the entire episode. Sejul is an IPS officer who had studied in Deogiri College in Aurangabad before becoming the SP in the regional province in Gujarat. He remarked, “the constable is suspended and the departmental action is initiated”.

‘Intolerable act’

It is worth noting that when the incident took place, Ravindra Jadeja was in Mumbai playing for the Chennai Super Kings in a marquee Qualifier 1 clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Commenting on the interactions that Sejul had with the cricketer, the former noted that he did have a conversation with Jadeja. He, however, mentioned that Jadeja did not pressurize him or any other official to take strict actions against the constable. Sejul further added that such acts are not tolerated no matter who is the victim of it.

“Yes, I did speak to Jadeja (over telephone) but there was no pressure from celebrity cricketer to suspend the constable. This kind of incident, be with anybody, irrespective of gender, status can not be and will not be tolerated,” Sejul remarked.

No regret from the constable

When asked if the constable regrets his actions, the official noted that it does not matter anyway. However, he conceded that there is no remorse from the side of the constable. He said, “it does not matter. There has been no defence from him so far…He got agitated after the incident”.
