The Trinbago Knight Riders once again managed to get the better of all the other sides and win the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) comprehensively. Considering their strength and squad depth, this result comes in barely as a surprise but the players were pretty clinical as well to help the side defeat Guyana Amazon Warriors in the<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cpl-2018-final-trinbago-knight-riders-vs-guyana-amazon-warriors-statistical-highlights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong> final by 8 wickets.</strong></a>

The likes of Brendon McCullum, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin and not to forget, the Bravo brothers were a pivotal part of this triumphant unit and entertained the crowd massively. The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/brian-lara-picks-toughest-bowler-ever-faced/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Brian Lara</strong></a> International Stadium hosted its first major final and the home crowd was lucky enough to witness their side defend the title.

It was yet another fascinating, mind-boggling and entertaining edition and this is exactly what the Windies cricket has been offering for decades. The young Kiwi top order batsman was handed a big responsibility to open the innings alongside the experienced Johnson Charles and as it turned out, he did manage to stamp his authority on the tournament. Some fearless and audacious cricket from the 21-year-old help them reach the final four, but the Tallawahs lost to St. Kitts in the Eliminator.

Nonetheless, Glenn Phillips had an outing to remember having notched a whopping 457 runs in 11 innings. He was also one of the four players this season to have registered a three-figure score. This exhibition will do his future a world of good and certainly, a flurry of T20 contracts will be on his way.<br>

He scored six fifties in the tournament which also includes a match-winning 68* off 39 in the final and ensured that the Knight Riders had very little trouble in chasing down the target.<br>

3. Shimron Hetmyer (Guyana Amazon Warriors)

There was some tight competition from Brendon McCullum and Shai Hope for this slot, but eventually, Shimron Hetymer enters the elite list. Another budding youngster who took this golden opportunity with both hands, Hetmyer certainly caught a lot of attention with his brilliant performances for the Warriors.

They reached the final but were outdone comprehensively by Trinbago. Despite that, the youngster has a lot of positives to take away. He registered 440 runs in 12 innings and ended up as the third highest run-scorer of the tournament.<br>

Many say his batting style reminisces people of Brian Lara and much like him, Darren Bravo always manages to leave an impact on the game in his own style. The stylish, quintessentially Caribbean southpaw was one of the backbones of the Trinbago Knight Riders.

With an outstanding tally of 353 runs in 13 matches, Bravo managed to inflict a lot of pain to the opponents coming in the middle order. With an average tad shy of 40, he scored a couple of half-centuries. He was also joint-second on the list of most sixes (24) alongside Munro and Hetmyer.<br>

The St. Lucia Stars&#8217; fate has not changed much in the tournament but their performance this time was comparatively better. Leading the unit from the front was <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cpl-2018-kieron-pollard-whacks-devendra-bishoo-30-runs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Kieron Pollard</strong></a> who chipped in with some crucial contributions coming in at number four and five.

Although his first T20 century arrived a bit too late, it came in a grandiose way this season. In nine innings, he registered 330 runs at an astonishing average of 47.14. The 31-year-old will certainly be hoping to turn the tables around next season.<br>

The only representative of the Barbados Tridents in this list is the youngster Nicholas Pooran, who got the better of veteran Denesh Ramdin just by an inch. The 22-year-old from Trinidad played some wonderful cameos in the death overs and certainly was one of the best finishers of the tournament.

In ten matches, he amassed 267 runs at an impressive average of 34. He also inflicted 10 dismissals, all of them being catches. This performance from the Pooran will certainly boost his chances of making it to the World Cup squad next year.<br>

One of the greatest entertainers of the century, this list of players would be incomplete without the presence of Dwayne Bravo. Bravo led his Trinbago Knight Riders side to their third CPL title. They are also the first team in the history of the tournament to have defended the title.

The senior of the Bravo brothers was lively throughout the season and that reflected in how clinical his side was all the way through. He also registered 13 wickets in as many games to go with 209 runs with the willow at an exceptional strike-rate.<br>

One of the very effective spinners in the shortest format, Imran Tahir&#8217;s experience is always a bonus for the team. His incredible rendition for the Guyana franchise almost took them to the title, but they fell a foot short.

The Pakistani-born Proteas leggie scalped 16 wickets in 12 innings at a mind-boggling economy of 5.91. His average too was pretty impressive (17.75) and was one of the best bowlers of the tournament. No matter how old he gets, he&#8217;s a turning a better bowler with every passing day.<br>

The veteran Aussie picked up 22 wickets and registered some fabulous statistics. With an economy of 6.18 and an average of 13.77, his numbers have done the talking and certainly was the best bowler this season.<br>

A lot of youngsters have made it to this line-up and another one of those promising bright talents is Oshane Thomas. Thomas is yet to make his International debut but with his performance in the CPL, he certainly has grabbed the attention of the national selectors.

The Jamaican born seam bowler is a perfect T20 asset and the Tallawahs used him to the best effect. He ended up collecting 18 wickets in 10 games at an average of 17.66. He easily could&#8217;ve been the highest wicket-taker this tournament had the Tallawahs progressed a little further.<br>

Now, this is a name not many might&#8217;ve heard before the start of the season. But Ali Khan from the United States of America managed to hog a lot of limelight after a gem of a season with the Knight Riders.

<p>A lot of youngsters have made it to this line-up and another one of those promising bright talents is Oshane Thomas. Thomas is yet to make his International debut but with his performance in the CPL, he certainly has grabbed the attention of the national selectors.</p>
<p>The Jamaican born seam bowler is a perfect T20 asset and the Tallawahs used him to the best effect. He ended up collecting 18 wickets in 10 games at an average of 17.66. He easily could’ve been the highest wicket-taker this tournament had the Tallawahs progressed a little further.<br>

<h3>11. Ali Khan (Trinbago Knight Riders)</h3>

<p>Now, this is a name not many might’ve heard before the start of the season. But Ali Khan from the United States of America managed to hog a lot of limelight after a gem of a season with the Knight Riders.</p>
<p>Ali Khan scalped 16 wickets in just 12 outings at an average just in excess of 20. The <strong>Pakistan</strong>i-born pacer is quick and agile and is bound to attract many more contracts in the coming few months. But for the moment, he will celebrate the title triumph with his teammates.</p>

<p>The Trinbago Knight Riders once again managed to get the better of all the other sides and win the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) comprehensively. Considering their strength and squad depth, this result comes in barely as a surprise but the players were pretty clinical as well to help the side defeat Guyana Amazon Warriors in the<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cpl-2018-final-trinbago-knight-riders-vs-guyana-amazon-warriors-statistical-highlights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong> final by 8 wickets.</strong></a></p>
<p>The likes of Brendon McCullum, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin and not to forget, the Bravo brothers were a pivotal part of this triumphant unit and entertained the crowd massively. The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/brian-lara-picks-toughest-bowler-ever-faced/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Brian Lara</strong></a> International Stadium hosted its first major final and the home crowd was lucky enough to witness their side defend the title.</p>
<p>It was yet another fascinating, mind-boggling and entertaining edition and this is exactly what the Windies cricket has been offering for decades. With the tournament coming to a close, all we can do is relive the best moments from the last 40-odd days and in the process, let&#8217;s take a look at the Best XI of this season.</p>
<h3>1. Glenn Phillips (Jamaica Tallawahs)</h3>

<p>The young Kiwi top order batsman was handed a big responsibility to open the innings alongside the experienced Johnson Charles and as it turned out, he did manage to stamp his authority on the tournament. Some fearless and audacious cricket from the 21-year-old help them reach the final four, but the Tallawahs lost to St. Kitts in the Eliminator.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, Glenn Phillips had an outing to remember having notched a whopping 457 runs in 11 innings. He was also one of the four players this season to have registered a three-figure score. This exhibition will do his future a world of good and certainly, a flurry of T20 contracts will be on his way.<br>

<h3>2. Colin Munro (Trinbago Knight Riders)</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/twitter-reactions-colin-munros-brilliant-knock-helps-the-knight-riders-win-their-3rd-title/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Colin Munro</strong></a> was awarded the player of the tournament award and not many could&#8217;ve debated with that choice. The swashbuckling batsman was outstanding for the eventual champions Trinbago and he also ended up as the highest run-getter of the season.</p>
<p>With a tally of 567 runs in 13 games at a stupendous average of 51.55, Munro let his willow do all the talking. He scored six fifties in the tournament which also includes a match-winning 68* off 39 in the final and ensured that the Knight Riders had very little trouble in chasing down the target.<br>

<h3>3. Shimron Hetmyer (Guyana Amazon Warriors)</h3>

<p>There was some tight competition from Brendon McCullum and Shai Hope for this slot, but eventually, Shimron Hetymer enters the elite list. Another budding youngster who took this golden opportunity with both hands, Hetmyer certainly caught a lot of attention with his brilliant performances for the Warriors.</p>
<p>They reached the final but were outdone comprehensively by Trinbago. Despite that, the youngster has a lot of positives to take away. He registered 440 runs in 12 innings and ended up as the third highest run-scorer of the tournament.<br>

<h3>4. Darren Bravo (Trinbago Knight Riders)</h3>

<p>Many say his batting style reminisces people of Brian Lara and much like him, Darren Bravo always manages to leave an impact on the game in his own style. The stylish, quintessentially Caribbean southpaw was one of the backbones of the Trinbago Knight Riders.</p>
<p>With an outstanding tally of 353 runs in 13 matches, Bravo managed to inflict a lot of pain to the opponents coming in the middle order. With an average tad shy of 40, he scored a couple of half-centuries. He was also joint-second on the list of most sixes (24) alongside Munro and Hetmyer.<br>

<h3>5. Kieron Pollard (St Lucia Stars)</h3>

<p>The St. Lucia Stars&#8217; fate has not changed much in the tournament but their performance this time was comparatively better. Leading the unit from the front was <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cpl-2018-kieron-pollard-whacks-devendra-bishoo-30-runs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Kieron Pollard</strong></a> who chipped in with some crucial contributions coming in at number four and five.</p>
<p>Although his first T20 century arrived a bit too late, it came in a grandiose way this season. In nine innings, he registered 330 runs at an astonishing average of 47.14. The 31-year-old will certainly be hoping to turn the tables around next season.<br>

<h3>6. Nicholas Pooran (wk) (Barbados Tridents)</h3>

<p>The only representative of the Barbados Tridents in this list is the youngster Nicholas Pooran, who got the better of veteran Denesh Ramdin just by an inch. The 22-year-old from Trinidad played some wonderful cameos in the death overs and certainly was one of the best finishers of the tournament.</p>
<p>In ten matches, he amassed 267 runs at an impressive average of 34. He also inflicted 10 dismissals, all of them being catches. This performance from the Pooran will certainly boost his chances of making it to the World Cup squad next year.<br>

<h3>7. Dwayne Bravo (c) (Trinbago Knight Riders)</h3>

<p>One of the greatest entertainers of the century, this list of players would be incomplete without the presence of Dwayne Bravo. Bravo led his Trinbago Knight Riders side to their third CPL title. They are also the first team in the history of the tournament to have defended the title.</p>
<p>The senior of the Bravo brothers was lively throughout the season and that reflected in how clinical his side was all the way through. He also registered 13 wickets in as many games to go with 209 runs with the willow at an exceptional strike-rate.<br>

<h3>8. Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors)</h3>

<p>One of the very effective spinners in the shortest format, Imran Tahir&#8217;s experience is always a bonus for the team. His incredible rendition for the Guyana franchise almost took them to the title, but they fell a foot short.</p>
<p>The Pakistani-born Proteas leggie scalped 16 wickets in 12 innings at a mind-boggling economy of 5.91. His average too was pretty impressive (17.75) and was one of the best bowlers of the tournament. No matter how old he gets, he&#8217;s a turning a better bowler with every passing day.<br>

<h3>9. Fawad Ahmed (Trinbago Knight Riders)</h3>

Eventually, his perseverance paid off and was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.</p>
<p>The veteran Aussie picked up 22 wickets and registered some fabulous statistics. With an economy of 6.18 and an average of 13.77, his numbers have done the talking and certainly was the best bowler this season.<br>
